Preventative dentistry is a combination of the care, advice, and treatments we give our patients during their regular check-ups, with the care they take of their oral health at home. It is often said in medicine that prevention is better than cure, and we wholeheartedly agree with that statement when it comes to dentistry too.
Our preventive care starts with our regular twice-yearly check-ups with our patients and their dental hygiene appointments. The aim of preventive care is to reduce the need for intervention. Or, where intervention is needed, to find this early on, thereby allowing for more minimally-invasive options to be used.
At our check-ups and dental hygiene appointments, we can provide diet and lifestyle advice, oral health advice, fissure sealants to fill tiny crevices, fluoride varnish to help remineralise a tooth and prevent cavities or caries from forming, and dental X-rays.
